The book collects the keynote contributions and the papers presented at the “8th Italian Conference of Researchers in Geotechnical Engineering 2023, CNRIG’23”. The conference was held on July 5–7, 2023, at the University of Palermo (Italy), and it was organized under the auspices of the National Group of Geotechnical Engineering (GNIG). The event has been organized to promote interaction among geotechnical engineering and applied sciences, with special focus on technological and digital innovations. The book covers a wide range of classical and emerging topics in geotechnics, including innovation in laboratory testing and in situ monitoring, thermo-hydro-chemo-mechanical behavior of geo-materials, computational geomechanics, analyses of instability processes in seismic conditions, probabilistic approaches, resilience of critical infrastructures and advances in risk mitigation strategies, and eco-friendly solutions for soils and rocks stabilization. This book is intended for postgraduate students, researchers, and practitioners working on geotechnical engineering and related areas.
Unsaturated Soils: Research and Applications
These volumes contain the contributions to the Second European Conference on Unsaturated Soils, E-UNSAT 2012, held in Napoli, Italy, in June 2012. The event is the second of a series of European conferences, and follows the first successful one, organised in Durham, UK, in 2008. Geotechnical Research for Land Protection and Development
This volume gathers the latest advances, innovations, and applications in the field of geotechnical engineering, as presented by leading researchers and engineers at the 7th Italian National Congress of Geotechnical Researchers (CNRIG 2019), entitled “Geotechnical Research for the Protection and Development of the Territory” (Lecco, Italy, July 3-5, 2019). The congress is intended to promote exchanges on the role of geotechnical research and its findings regarding the protection against natural hazards, design criteria for structures and infrastructures, and the definition of sustainable development strategies. The contributions cover a diverse range of topics, including infrastructural challenges, underground space utilization, and sustainable construction in problematic soils and situations, as well as geo-environmental aspects such as landfills, environmental and energy geotechnics, geotechnical monitoring, and risk assessment and mitigation. Selected by means of a rigorous peer-review process, they will spur novel research directions and foster future multidisciplinary collaborations.
Energy Geotechnics
This book collects selected full papers presented at the International Symposium on Energy Geotechnics 2018 (SEG-2018), held on 25th – 28th September 2018, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). It covers a wide range of topics in energy geotechnics, including energy geostructures, energy geostorage, thermo-hydro-chemo-mechanical behaviour of geomaterials, unconventional resources, hydraulic stimulation, induced seismicity, CO2 geological storage, and nuclear waste disposal as well as topics such as tower and offshore foundations. The book is intended for postgraduate students, researchers and practitioners working on geomechanics and geotechnical engineering for energy-related applications.
Advances in Laboratory Testing and Modelling of Soils and Shales (ATMSS)
In this spirit, the ATMSS International Workshop “Advances in Laboratory Testing & Modelling of Soils and Shales” (Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland; 18-20 January 2017) has been organized to promote the exchange of ideas, experience and state of the art among major experts active in the field of experimental testing and modelling of soils and shales. The Workshop has been organized under the auspices of the Technical Committees TC-101 “Laboratory Testing”, TC-106 “Unsaturated Soils” and TC-308 “Energy Geotechnics” of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. This volume contains the invited keynote and feature lectures, as well as the papers that have been presented at the Workshop. The topics of the lectures and papers cover a wide range of theoretical and experimental research, including unsaturated behaviour of soils and shales, multiphysical testing of geomaterials, hydro–mechanical behaviour of shales and stiff clays, the geomechanical behaviour of the Opalinus Clay shale, advanced laboratory testing for site characterization and in–situ applications, and soil – structure interactions.

La signora Sopranov, in questo episodio, si confronterà con le sue debolezze e lascerà spazio alla parte più vulnerabile di se stessa, tentando di sopravvivere e, contemporaneamente, tenere vivo l’unico vero legame autentico creato durante tutta la sua intera vita. Tra le pagine prenderà vita l’eterna lotta tra il bene e il male, gli istinti e la volontà, all’interno di una storia dal ritmo incalzante e coinvolgente. Marco Rosone nato a Roma in via dei Gracchi nel 1971. Diplomato e iscritto a Scienze Politiche all’università La Sapienza, ha lavorato per anni come agente immobiliare, è fondatore del marchio Royalcasa. A 11 anni ha frequentato un corso di chitarra classica con il maestro Francesco Tattàra del conservatorio di Santa Cecilia. Ha dipinto più di 200 quadri ed è creatore su Twitter della Strega Sopranov. Il primo romanzo è stato redatto interamente sul social con i suoi 140 caratteri a disposizione. Ha pubblicato in seguito i primi due episodi: “La Strega ed il soffio del Drago” e “La Strega ed il Leone”.
