The Cristos yacentes of Gregorio Fern?ez
Analyzing seventeenth-century images of the dead Christ produced by Gregorio Fern?ez, author Ilenia Col?endoza investigates how and why the artist and his patrons manipulated these images in connection with the religious literature of the time to produce striking images that moved the faithful to devotion. In so doing, she contributes new findings to the topic of Spanish sacred sculpture. The author re-examines these sculptures not only in the context of a larger sculptural group but also as independent sculptures that were intended as powerful aids to contemplation and devotion as was prescribed by the writings of San Juan de la Cruz and Luis de Granada. Combining study of the sculptural works with that of liturgical sources, she reveals the connection between the written word and the sculpted work of art. Through this interdisciplinary approach, the author links Fern?ez's sculptural program with the strategic objectives of major patrons of the period, such as the Duke of Lerma and King Philip III of Spain, both fervent defenders of the Catholic faith.

In 1970s Italy, after the decline of the Spaghetti Western, crime films became the most popular, profitable and controversial genre. In a country plagued with violence, political tensions and armed struggle, these films managed to capture the anxiety and anger of the times in their tales of tough cops, ruthless criminals and urban paranoia. Recent years have seen renewed critical interest in the genre, thanks in part to such illustrious fans as Quentin Tarantino. This book examines all of the 220+ crime films produced in Italy between 1968 and 1980, the period when the genre first appeared and grew to its peak. Este texto trata temas constructivos en un amplio espectro, desde cómo realizar un dintel de ladrillo visto, una submuración, un pozo absorbente o un revoque símil piedra, hasta llegar a una construcción de albañilería completa. Por la necesidad de responder a las dudas o errores que durante años percibí en las obras y en la consulta de contratistas y colegas, es que nace este libro, destinado a arquitectos, estudiantes y toda persona, profesional o no, que tenga interrogantes sobre aspectos de la actividad.
