Versöhnung und Vergöttlichung
Das Bußsakrament, das Mysterium der Sündenvergebung, steckt auch in der Rumänisch-Orthodoxen Kirche in einer Krise. Als katholischer Priester, der in Rumänien aufgewachsen ist, aber viele Jahre in Deutschland gelebt hat, analysiert der Autor aus der Sicht unterschiedlicher Traditionen die gemeinsame Problemlage. In Fortführung des byzantinischen Erbes steht vor allem der therapeutische Aspekt der Buße im Mittelpunkt. Dabei kommen neben den Kirchenvätern des Ostens auch zeitgenössische rumänische Theologen zu Wort, deren Werke seit der politischen Wende verstärkt wahrgenommen werden. Wenn Buße wie im vorliegenden Werk als spirituelle Therapie verstanden wird, könnte ein verschmähtes Sakrament neue Wertschätzung erfahren.

Religiöse Erfahrung und Entscheidungsfindung
Was bewegt jüngere Menschen, sich angesichts vielfältiger Optionen einem Orden oder einer geistlichen Gemeinschaft anzuschließen? Dieser Fragestellung geht der vorliegende Band nach. In einer qualitativ-empirischen Studie wird die Konstruktion narrativer Identität des Ordensnachwuchses analysiert. Dazu werden fünfzig junge Menschen, die sich für einen Beitritt zu einer Gemeinschaft entschieden haben, zu ihrer Motivation, Entscheidungsfindung sowie ihren religiösen Schlüsselerfahrungen befragt und ihre Selbsterzählungen biografiesensibel ausgewertet. Die Ergebnisse bieten nicht nur wichtige Impulse für die Weiterentwicklung der kirchlichen Berufungspastoral. Sie besitzen ebenso einen hohen pastoral- und religionssoziologischen Wert und erhellen die individuelle und soziokulturelle Situation des Glaubens zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts.

Although the treatise does not explicitly develop a pneumatology, it describes Christian existence as pneumatic.Inspired by the apostle Paul, Luther describes a movement which is constantly oriented downwards. Faith receives the fruitful consequences of divine humiliation towards humanity through Christ. Love communicates God's justice, experienced in faith, to one's neighbour, and in so doing becomes involved in God's (con)descendent acting. Faith active through love does not represent a human possibility, though. It is an experience produced by the Spirit, experience which can be most adequately described through a "pneumatology of the cross".The dissertation describes the pneumatic character of Christian existence as freedom to serve, and points to the staurological stance of the Treatise on Christian Freedom.
