Cultural Differences in Concepts of Life and Partnership
The study aims to describe value-formations in the area of family life and partnership in West and East Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. The analysis of personal advertisements allowed the identification of basic values and attitudes that shape a culturally specific concept of life and partnership in each society. The comparison showed a systematic relationship: specifics in economic conditions, historical heritage and national past effect the idea of a good life and a good partnership.

Die Ukraine auf dem Weg in die EU
Bald nach ihrer Unabhängigkeit im Jahr 1991 bis heute verfolgt die Ukraine einen immer entschlosseneren Kurs in Richtung EU-Europa. Wichtige Stationen auf diesem Weg waren die „Orangene Revolution“ (2004), der Widerstand gegen die russische Annexion der Krim (2014) und die Verteidigung ihres Landes gegen russische Invasionstruppen bis heute. Das Nachbarland Polen spielte als Grenzland zwischen EU und Nicht-EU eine besondere Rolle. Die Autorin hat diese Entwicklung von Anfang an beobachtet, mitverfolgt und analysiert. Sie hielt sich mehrfach in der Ukraine auf und stellte sich ganz entschieden hinter den ukrainischen Wunsch, ein freies, unabhängiges, voll anerkanntes Mitgliedsland der EU zu werden.
