No Brasil, temos testemunhado e vivenciado o debate público em torno do lugar da mulher em diversas decisões e questões femininas. A luta constante pelos direitos das mulheres tem avançado lentamente no país. Algumas conquistas já foram alcançadas nas últimas décadas, como o direito ao voto e o direito de serem eleitas. No entanto, quando se trata da representatividade feminina, esse debate está ainda muito distante do desejado, devido à pouca presença de mulheres. Isso pode ser resultado da histórica exclusão das mulheres, o que ainda ecoa até hoje em nosso país. Em suma, a obra é um convidar para o leitor pensar reflexivamente, amplo e contextualizado, sobre a real necessidade de analisar os diversos temas e aspectos do empoderamento e resistência das mulheres brasileiras.

Esta publicação é resultado do Projeto Recriar, fruto de Emenda Parlamentar destinada à Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). O livro leva à sociedade um debate atual sobre saúde e bem-estar animal integrando questões centrais desta temática de alta relevância às áreas de saúde e gestão pública, medicina veterinária, ciências ambientais e ciências biológicas. A obra é dividida em quatro capítulos, com autoria de discentes de graduação e pós-graduação e pesquisadores doutores da UNIRIO, que apresentam desde dados de compilação de literatura e oriundos de parcerias com subsecretarias de bem-estar animal a resultados obtidos em atividades de extensão universitária em escolas públicas do Rio de Janeiro evidenciando a transversalidade do tema.

Gender and Exemplarity in Medieval and Early Modern Spain gathers a series of studies on the interplay between gender, sanctity and exemplarity in regard to literary production in the Iberian peninsula. The first section examines how women were con¬strued as saintly examples through narratives, mostly composed by male writers; the second focuses on the use made of exemplary life-accounts by women writers in order to fashion their own social identity and their role as authors.
