José Maria Eça de Queirós (1845-1900), além de ser um dos maiores escritores de língua portuguesa, foi diplomata e protagonista de algumas importantes jornadas por vários países. Estas viagens, bem como a atividade consular (em Cuba, Inglaterra e França), entram na sua ficção e nos seus textos de imprensa sob diversas formas, fixando imagens do mundo que são analisadas nos ensaios que compõem este volume.
Nanocosmetics and Nanomedicines
The book "Nanocosmetics and nanomedicines: new approaches for skin care” contains a summary of the most important nanocarriers for skin delivery. Although “nanocosmetics” is a subject widely commented in the academy and the beauty industry, a book covering the skin care treatments using nanotechnological approaches with cosmetics and nanomedicines is still missing, therefore the need for this publication. This book is divided in three parts: The first one (Part A) is devoted to a brief review on the main topics related to the skin delivery and to the introduction of the subject “nanocosmetics”. The second part (Part B) presents different types of nanocarriers applied as skin delivery systems for cosmetics or drugs. The last part (Part C) shows a wide range of applications of nanotechnology on the skin care area as well as on dermatocosmetic and dermatological fields.

The book provides an analysis of the emergence, evolution, and transformation of transnational securities regulation and of the influences from and the interactions between global regulatory powers in the field. From Language to Discourse
From Language to Discourse contains selected texts from the 6th and 7th Linguistics Sharing Forums, which took place at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, on 25th November 2011 and 23rd November 2012, respectively. The articles included in this volume present the results of ongoing research in different domains of linguistics, such as phonology, language acquisition, syntax, and terminology. It is important to mention that these papers should be seen as work in progress, given that the young researchers who authored them are not yet PhD degree holders. However, all articles have been evaluated by an academic committee prior to publication. In addition, this book also includes the publication of two papers authored by João Costa, and Maria Antónia Coutinho, senior researchers of the Linguistics Centre of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (CLUNL).
