Paradoxes of Diversity and Inclusion: From the Lab to the Social Field

Contemporary societies strive for multiculturalism and tolerance. To create conditions to reach this ideal there should be a continuum between what the social actors are prepared for in school, practices they encounter at the workplace, and the way they contribute to the wider society. This continuum should be materialized in consistent conceptualizations and practices of diversity and inclusion across educational, organizational and societal contexts. So far, research suggests that policies implemented in those settings have mixed results. This is partly because policies in different fields use distinct conceptual definitions of diversity and inclusion. Thus, important gaps exist between re...

Implicit Attitude Measures

The development and application of implicit attitude measures has been one of the most thriving research areas in psychology over the last few decades. This field is united by a shared excitement about the discoveries enabled by these measures, be they related to social attitudes and behavior, clinical disorders, consumer decisions, or self-representations, among others. These approaches bridge subdisciplines of psychology traditionally characterized by little cross-talk. The variety of implicit meadures used is already broad and still growing, given variants and implementations of these implicit measures in different samples and research approaches. This compilation brings together contributions that focus either on the comparison of different implicit measures or on the mechanisms underlying individual ones, to provide an overview of virtues and weaknesses of different approaches.

L'inclusion scolaire

This book provides the first evidence-based accounts of inclusive education in a Russian context. It explores the critical educational changes in the Russian Federation within the post-soviet space and internationally. The book analyzes the transformation of educational practices as Russia transitions from an educational model of student support with an emphasis on disability to a broader conceptualization of inclusive education. Among others, this book discusses inclusive education in the context of: • School and preschool institutions; • higher education institutions; • non-Russian-speaking children and children with migration experience; • culture-sensitive education; • indigenous minorities; • technological and methodological support; • the role of stakeholders such as NGOs, parents, and other social groups; • teacher preparation and professional development. This book is intended for teachers, inclusive education coordinators, principals and school managers, policymakers, teacher educators, scholars of inclusion, and university professors, along with community organizations and students of inclusive courses in a Master in Education. .

Epilepsy in Children and Adolescents

Epilepsy in childhood presents a profound challenge Epilepsy is an unsettling, complex condition. There is no ‘one size fits all’ option. Epilepsy in Children and Adolescents provides the contemporary, caring guidance you need to diagnose and manage seizures in a young patient. Beginning with an overview of the classification of epilepsy syndromes, the experienced authors cover: Diagnostic evaluation of childhood epilepsies Principles of treatment Generalized seizures and generalized epilepsy syndromes Partial onset seizures and localization-related epilepsy syndromes Epilepsies relative to age, etiology or duration The full range of treatment options: medical, dietary, surgical Epilepsy in Children and Adolescents takes a practical approach to a common but complex clinical challenge.
