God's Unusual Saints
Gods Unusual Saints examines the lives of several saints in the Catholic Church. Recognized as living heroically holy lives by the Churchs early tradition, or canonized by Popes in later times, these men and women displayed qualities that reflect the unique call of God to unusual lives of sanctity. As in the case of anomalies in the physical universe which at first glance seems to be an extremely ordered creation, so too in the Church, there are canonized saints who do not seem to fit the traditional ideas of what a saint should be. Yet their lives give witness to the ever creative ways God leads his own to heaven. Their lives should inspire all of us that sanctity is always possible in this life in spite of our foibles or failures as humans.

The Ancestry and Descendants of David Foster, Sr. (1758-1821) of Williamstown, Massachusetts
Sergeant Thomas Foster (ca 1600-1682) and his brother, William came to America in 1634. He and his wife, Elizabeth settled in Weymouth, Massachusettes about 1640, but later moved to Braintree and then to Billerica where he died. One descendant was David Foster, Sr. (1758- 1821). Descendants lived in Massachusetts, New York, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kansas, Illinois, New Mexico, California, Canada and elsewhere.

This volume is dedicated to "Serenata and Festa Teatrale in 18th Century Europe", especially to the production of this music-dramatic genre at the courts on the Iberian Peninsula, in Italy, and the Holy Roman Empire where it was an integral part of court ceremonials and a privileged ritual of repraesentatio maiestatis. The 16 studies on patrons and artists, exceptional events and local traditions, reveal highly interesting material for the research on these up to now largely neglected genre. Any approach to these works full of metaphors, symbols and allusions has to take into account the context of the celebration and the resulting multiplicity of aspects: choice of themes, dramaturgical forms, textual and musical structures, vocal and instrumental ensembles, and the various options regarding the stage apparatus. "Serenata and Festa Teatrale in 18th Century Europe", edited by Iskrena Yordanova (Lisbon) and Paologiovanni Maione (Naples), inaugurates the series "Cadernos de Queluz", a subseries of "Specula Spectacula" by Don Juan Archiv Wien.
