Operations Research Proceedings 2021
This book gathers a selection of peer-reviewed papers presented at the International Conference on Operations Research (OR 2021), which was hosted online by the University of Bern from August 31 to September 3, 2021, and was jointly organized by the Operations Research Societies of Switzerland (SVOR/ASRO), Germany (GOR e.V.), and Austria (ÖGOR). The respective papers discuss classical mathematical optimization, statistics and simulation techniques. These are complemented by computer science methods, and by tools for processing data, designing and implementing information systems. The book also examines recent advances in information technology, which allow massive volumes of data to be processed and enable real-time predictive and prescriptive business analytics to drive decisions and actions. Lastly, it presents a selection of problems that are modeled and treated while taking into account uncertainty, risk management, behavioral issues, etc.

Dreissig Jahre nach der Verhaftung Jeanmaires liegt erstmals ein Report vor, der sich auf die Ermittlungs- und Gerichtsakten stützt. War der Brigadier tatsächlich der "Jahrhundertverräter"? Oder war er vielmehr eine Projektionsfläche für den Hass, den die bürgerliche Schweiz gegenüber der totalitären Sowjetunion hegte? Im unparteiischen Bericht von Jürg Schoch machen die Akteure von damals eine zweifelhafte Figur: die Ermittler, manche Presseorgane, das Gericht und selbst Justizminister Furgler.

Opera in Theory and Practice, Image and Myth
The History of Italian Opera marks the first time a team of scholars has worked together to investigate the entire Italian operatic tradition, rather than limiting its focus to major composers and their masterworks. Including both musicologists and historians of other arts, the contributors approach opera not only as a distinctive musical genre but also as a form of extravagant theater and a complex social phenomenon. This sixth volume in the series centers on the sociological and critical aspects of opera in Italy, considering the art in the context of an Italian literary and cultural canon rarely revealed in English and American studies. In its six chapters, contributors survey critics' changing attitudes toward opera over several centuries, trace the evolution of formal conventions among librettists, explore the historical relationships between opera and Italian literature, and examine opera's place in Italian popular and national culture. In perhaps the volume's most striking contribution, German scholar Carl Dahlouse offers his most important statement on the dramaturgy of opera.

Macmillan published the first edition of this text in 1985. It is a detailed reference to world leaders, monarchs, presidents and their equivalents, executive leaders plus other positions with authority vested in them; heads of ruling communist parties, military junta heads and some leaders with no formal post, but who wield supreme authority. This text is a reference to leaders, past and present, of the countries of the world. The second edition updates the first and includes the far reaching political changes which have taken place in Eastern Europe and the emergence of new states. The scope of the book has been broadened to include more international organisations, more regional government leaders, more governments in exile and colonial governors of the twentieth century.
