Control and Dynamic Systems V55: Digital and Numeric Techniques and Their Application in Control Systems

Control and Dynamic Systems: Advances in Theory Applications, Volume 55: Digital and Numeric Techniques and their Applications in Control Systems, Part 1 of 2 covers advances in numerical and computational techniques for the design of modern complex control systems. This book presents a comprehensive treatment of the many issues that are dealt with in modern complex systems. It discusses the efficacy of significant techniques for robust control design; model reduction; adaptive estimation of discrete-time stochastic systems; parameter estimation; and loop transfer recovery. Students, research workers, and practising engineers will find this book invaluable.

Fighter Aircraft Maneuver Limiting Using MPC: Theory and Application

Flight control design for modern fighter aircraft is a challenging task. Aircraft are dynamical systems, which naturally contain a variety of constraints and nonlinearities such as, e.g., maximum permissible load factor, angle of attack and control surface deflections. Taking these limitations into account in the design of control systems is becoming increasingly important as the performance and complexity of the aircraft is constantly increasing. The aeronautical industry has traditionally applied feedforward, anti-windup or similar techniques and different ad hoc engineering solutions to handle constraints on the aircraft. However these approaches often rely on engineering experience and i...

Control and Dynamic Systems V56: Digital and Numeric Techniques and Their Application in Control Systems

Control and Dynamic Systems: Advances in Theory and Applications, Volume 56: Digital and Numeric Techniques and their Applications in Control Systems, Part 2 of 2 covers the significant developments in digital and numerical techniques for the analysis and design of modern complex control systems. This volume is composed of 12 chapters and starts with a description of the design techniques of linear constrained discrete-time control systems. The subsequent chapters describe the techniques dealing with robust real-time system identification, the adaptive control algorithms, and the utilization of methods from generalized interpolation and operator theory to deal with a wide range of problems i...

Identification and Control

This book meets head-on the difficulty of making practical use of new systems theory, presenting a selection of varied applications together with relevant theory. It shows how workable identification and control solutions can be derived by adapting and extrapolating from the theory. Each chapter has a common structure: a brief presentation of theory; the description of a particular application; experimental results; and a section highlighting, explaining and laying out solutions to the discrepancy between the theoretical and the practical.

Dynamics of Information Systems

"Dynamics of Information Systems" presents state-of-the-art research explaining the importance of information in the evolution of a distributed or networked system. This book presents techniques for measuring the value or significance of information within the context of a system. Each chapter reveals a unique topic or perspective from experts in this exciting area of research. This volume is intended for graduate students and researchers interested in the most recent developments in information theory and dynamical systems, as well as scientists in other fields interested in the application of these principles to their own area of study.

Imprecise Computation in Real-time Control Systems

Abstract: "The thesis is concerned with the behavior of corrupted real-time control systems and their corrupted trajectories. The difference between the corrupted trajectory and the precise trajectory is called the tracking error. We analyze the consequence of imprecise computation, caused by corrupted input and/or prematurely terminated output computation, on tracking errors for single-input-single-output and multiple-input- multiple-output time-invariant systems with deterministic errors as well as random errors. We establish the tracking error models and give upper bounds of the tracking errors. We find conditions under which the imprecise computation has certain desired convergence properties and show how to design control systems so that the systems have satisfactory performance."

Advanced Strategies in Control Systems with Input and Output Constraints

Physical, safety and technological constraints suggest that control actuators can neither provide unlimited amplitude signals nor unlimited speed of reaction. The techniques described in this book are useful for industrial applications in aeronautical or space domains, and in the context of biological systems. Such methods are well suited for the development of tools that help engineers to solve analysis and synthesis problems of control systems with input and output constraints.
