Arts - Therapies - Communication is designed as two volumes. The first deals with art therapy studies from Great Britain and the non-European countries. The second offers topic-related contributions from other European regions and countries. Under the auspices of the European Consortium for Art Therapies Education (ECArTE), a European art therapy is articulating itself. This publication is not only aimed at art therapists, music therapists, drama and dance therapists but also at psychotherapists and clinical psychologists, teachers, sociologists and doctors. With regard to method and theory, different directions and psychoanalytical approaches are represented and it also addresses a wide spectrum of clinical and non-clinical contexts and illnesses.

Understanding the Context of Cognitive Aging
This book provides a bi-national portrait of dementia in the rapidly aging Mexican-origin population in Mexico and the United States. It provides a comprehensive overview of critical conceptual and methodological issues in the study of cognitive aging and related mental and physical conditions. The book examines the sources of vulnerability and their consequences for Mexican-origin and for “aging in place”. By providing a combination of new knowledge, empirical evidence, and fresh approaches of dementia support in later life, this book will contribute to moving the field of Mexican-origin aging and health forward. By focusing on the serious challenges in old-age support for older people with dementia and neurocognitive disorders in two different contexts, this book will deepen academics, researchers, students and young investigators understanding of what is necessary to achieve optional care.

Creación artística y mujeres
La presencia de las mujeres en el arte de todas las épocas y países no siempre significa algo positivo para ellas pues su imagen es la expresión de estereotipos sobre la condición femenina. Por otro lado, no toda la producción artística está hecha por varones, aunque esto es lo que se ha querido demostrar: ha habido y hay muchas mujeres que pintan, esculpen y construyen. Sus obras ofrecen un mensaje diferente porque en ellas se representan a sí mismas, no como lo prescribe el patriarcado sino en su realidad y con la consiguiente reivindicación de su dignidad y derechos. Este libro aporta una valoración crítica sobre la presencia de las mujeres en el arte y sobre las posibilidades que tienen de acceder al mundo de la creación.
