The comprehensive monograph of Claesson Koivisto Rune sums up 25 successful years of creativity of the internationally acknowledged Swedish architects. The book introduces more than 50 construction projects, from the early works up to the present: buildings constructed, as well as trendsetting projects that were not realized. The book features texts by Kieran Long and Zoë Ryan as well as photos by Åke E:son Lindman taken especially for the volume.
In the light of the current housing and environmental crisis and increasing social inequalities, there is a growing sense of urgency for architecture as a discipline to engage with the transformation in housing evident in the postwar period. Rather than conceiving this task as a technical matter, this book proposes to reassess the conditions and legacy of this large and ubiquitous housing stock. By foregrounding the mismatch between constructed cultural, social and ideological narratives and the everyday realities of residents, the contributors rediscover some of the tropes of modern housing, such as the impact of technological innovations or the often overlooked character of open spaces, an...

This is a discussion of issues, processes and values which have been of general importance in the 20th century, and which have become especially important in the Arctic region during the last few decades of the 20th century. The book employs a regional perspective and as such deals with issues of special relevance and pertinence for populations of the Arctic. The problems and perspectives are however also of interest for indigenous peoples in general, as well as relevant for populations living under different types of self-government and home rule regimes. The book focuses on the interrelationship between political and economic concepts of dependency and autonomy and the concept of sustainability.
