Social forms of religion - the ways in which individuals and groups coordinate religious practice - produce community at the same time as they enable individual religious experiences. A mix of group, organization, market exchange, network, event, and/or other forms characterizes different traditions. Shifts in dominant social forms within a religious tradition are catalysts and expressions of religious transformation alike. The contributions to the volume test this argument by presenting Catholic, Protestant, Charismatic/Pentecostal, Orthodox, and Mormon case studies from Europe and the Americas.
The Legend of Levitika: The City of Angels By: B.D. Weddell Markus of Nineveh has had his fair share of tragedies. One night, Markus is approached by an ancient spirit in his dream, who tells him of a kingdom lost in-between fable and legend; a city hidden among the clouds, away from the Northern Wastelands wrought with radiation, monsters, and war. It is here where...
The following pages lend insight and inspiration into this philosophy, as these illustrations break down exactly what BRUH means: Black Renditions of Universal Heroes. You'll probably notice that all of them are women. I could've said heroine and you may ask why I don't use this word, but then I'd have some questions for you.
These papers, from the annual Summer/Spring School of the IRTG, revolve around the theme of “troubling the social”, exploring the complex relationships between religion, social worlds and transformation from the vantage point of the postcolony—not so much as a geographical location, but rather as a way to understand the world. The contributions examine the coloniality inherent within the academic enterprises related to religion, but also what, how, and why religious experiences, worldviews and engagements count as knowledge and the implications this has for understanding, examining, and activating social transformation processes. Processes of transformation have been prominent within t...

Urban spaces have always functioned as cradles and laboratories for religious movements and spiritualities. The urban forms a central and nourishing agent for the creation of new religious expressions, and continually negotiates new ways of being spiritual and establishing spiritual ideas and practices. This book explores the intense and complex interplay between the (post) modern city and new religious and spiritual movement, bringing the city and its annexes into the foreground of current research into religion. It develops a new, ethnography-based analysis of the ways in which the pluralist experience of the "urban" inscribes itself into various religious practices and vice versa: how do ...
