Este manual es una herramienta que permite a las comunidades y autoridades ambientales disponer de elementos que facilitan la identificación de especies maderables importantes en las áreas de trabajo del Programa Colombia Forestal PCF-. Son 53 fichas que registran el mismo número de especies maderables y fueron seleccionadas con las comunidades locales del bajo Mirá (Nariño), y de Vigía del Fuerte en el medio Atrato (Antioquia). Cada especie se identificó con el acompañamiento de los pobladores, y se presenta en las fichas con nombre científico, familia, otros nombres vernáculos, hábitat natural, distribución, usos, información acerca de floración y fructificación así como el diagrama general de fenología.

Appendices provide lists of the popular Django films and the Sartana films, a listing of U.S.-made Spaghetti Western lookalikes, top ten and twenty lists and a list of the genre's worst.
