Joseph Shirk was born 30 January 1820 in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His parents were Peter Shirk (1785-1845) and Sarah Sensenig. He married Esther Horning (1826-1901) in about 1850. They had thirtenn children. Joseph died 19 August 1902. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania.
John Horst (1801-1875) was the son of Christian Horst (1755-1837) and Susanna Nolt of Lancaster Co., PA and Washington Co., MD. He was the grandson of Joseph Horst who emigrated from Switzerland in 1730. He married (1) Elizabeth Eshleman (b.1801), daughter of Abraham Eshleman and Susanna Grabill, in 1820. They were the parents of eleven children. He married (2) Frances Boyer (1815-1886). His son Christian Horst married Leah Smith (b.1819) and they were the parents of nine children. Several generations of descendants are given. Descendants lived in Maryland. Other places of descendant residence not shown in text.

Henry B. Weaver (1830-1923) was born in Weaverland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He married Esther (Hettie) Mosser in 1853, and they had sixteen children. She died in 1889, and he married Anna (Witmer) Martin. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, New York, Missouri, Colorado, Arizona and elsewhere. Includes ancestors to 1640 in Pennsylvania and Switzerland. They and many descendants were Mennonites.
