Supplement to Branches of One Riddle Family Tree
In the author's book "Branches of One Riddle Family Tree," she traced 1,435 descendants of Julius and Nancy Minter Riddle. Shortly after publication, she realized misinformation had been given her and that Julius and Nancy Minter Riddle never existed. Instead, she found the original settlers of Orange Co., North Carolina were brothers, William and Thomas Riddle, who moved from Caroline Co., Virginia to Lunenburg Co., Virginia in the late 1750's and then to Orange Co., North Carolina in about 1764. They lived in that portion of Orange County which became Chatham County in 1770. Anthony Minter also moved from Caroline Co., Virginia to Chatham Co., North Carolina in 1771. Descendants moved west and can be found in Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Kansas and elsewhere.
Kentucky Marriage Records
Except for a series of newspaper abstracts by G. Glenn Clift, this volume contains every list of marriages known to have been published in "The Register of the Kentucky Historical Society" since 1903. The following nineteen of Kentucky's oldest counties are represented, some of which, either in whole or in part, spawned a great many later counties: Barren, Bourbon, Christian, Floyd, Franklin, Grant, Greenup, Hardin, Lawrence, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Muhlenberg, Nelson, Pike, Shelby, Union, and Woodford. Based on courthouse records--primarily marriage bonds, licenses, ministers' returns, and marriage registers--the combined lists, which are fully indexed, contain references to approximately 50,000 persons!
Byrds and Sonners of Shenandoah Valley, Virginia and Their Migrations to Wells County, Indiana
Andrew Byrd (ca. 1695-1759/1750) married Magdalene Jones and moved from what is now Berks County, Pennsylvania to Rockingham County, Virginia (includes notes regarding possible ancestry in New Jersey or Mary- land). Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Indiana and elsewhere.
