Innovation and Transition in Law: Experiences and Theoretical Settings
This book features a discussion on the modernisation of law and legal change, focusing on the key concepts of innovation" and "transition". These concepts both appear to be relevant and poorly defined in contemporary legal science. A critical reflection on the heuristic value of these categories seems appropriate, particularly considering their dyadic value. While innovation is increasingly appearing in the present day as being the category in which one looks at the modernisation of law, the concept of transition also seems to be the privileged place of occurrence for such dynamics. This group of Italian and Brazilian scholars contributing to this volume intends to investigate such problems through an interdisciplinary prism. It includes points of view both internal to legal studies - such as the history of law, theory of law, constitutional law, private law and commercial law - and external, such as political philosophy and history of justice and political institutions.

This publication accompanies an exhibition of approximately 120 works of art and science loaned mostly from the Royal Collection of Spain (Patrimonio Nacional) to the Seattle Art Museum. Featuring the work of such artists as Bosch, Titian, El Greco, Bernini, Vel¾zquez, Murillo, Zubar¾n, and Goya, this publication includesøpaintings, sculpture, tapestries, scientific instruments, maps, armor, books, and documents. Eight essays provide historical context and artistic explication. Chronologically organized, the book charts the evolution of Spanish attitudes toward knowledge, exploration, and faith during three dynasties of Spain?s golden age, when the fervor for scientific and geographical knowledge coexisted with the expansion of empire and promotion of Christianity. La consolidación del liberalismo en la Almería Isabelina. De la regencia de María Cristina a "La Gloriosa" (1833-1868)
La presente tesis doctoral pretende interpretar la evolución del régimen político liberal en la época isabelina partiendo de la transformación de las instituciones del Antiguo Régimen hasta llegar al liberalismo. También trata de desvelar las relaciones existentes entre los sustentadores del poder económico y los cargos políticos que ocupan a nivel local y provincial. Asimismo, se estudian las leyes y reglamentos electorales que influyen en la creación de los censos y distritos electorales provinciales. Se analizan las fuerzas políticas que intervienen —directa o indirectamente— en la lucha electoral: moderados, progresistas, unionistas y carlistas, así como las elecciones celebradas en este periodo. Y, por último, se hace un estudio sobre las familias políticas que influyeron a nivel local, provincial y nacional.
