No forte de Caxias, muitas eram sujeitas às mais sofisticadas e brutais formas de tortura, ensinadas através de um manual entregue pela CIA à polícia política portuguesa, enquanto lá fora se preparava a revolução de 25 de Abril. Depois de meses de sofrimento, os homens e mulheres detidos em Caxias enfrentaram momentos de angústia e incerteza quando souberam que houvera um golpe militar – seria um golpe da esquerda ou, tal como acontecera no Chile, da direita mais radical?
