Embora o salto vertical seja um teste motor relativamente simples, que pode ser aplicado nas rotinas de avaliação física em geral, na prática, acaba sendo subutilizado. Isso ocorre, principalmente, pelo fato do teste de salto vertical tipicamente ser relacionado com a performance esportiva, entendido como de uso mais limitado no âmbito do exercício físico destinado à promoção da saúde. Nesse sentido, o presente livro tem por objetivo oferecer aos profissionais do exercício físico um guia de avaliação do salto vertical, apresentando os principais tipos de salto, instrumentos de avaliação e valores de referência para classificar o resultado do teste para diferentes objetivos. Dentro dessa perspectiva, o salto vertical pode/deve ser utilizado para além do monitoramento de atletas de alto desempenho, mas, também, deve compor protocolos de avaliação em escolas, academias de ginástica, espaços de lazer, entre outros ambientes onde a prática do exercício físico visa a promoção da saúde.

Dynamics of the Pantanal Wetland in South America
