Dem Komponisten Hugo Wolf (1860-1903) war 2003 in Genf ein Kolloquium gewidmet, dessen Beiträge eines internationalen Spezialistenkreises in Band 24 des Schweizer Jahrbuchs für Musikwissenschaft in ausgearbeiteter Form vorliegen. Vier der Aufsätze befassen sich mit Fragen der Konzeption und des Entstehungsprozesses am Beispiel verschiedener Werke (Streichquartett, Oper), vier weitere richten den Blick auf Wolfs Mörike-Lieder. Am Schluss des Bandes stehen drei thematisch freie Beiträge. Sie behandeln die Aktivitäten des bedeutenden Schweizer Musikologen Jacques Handschin (1886-1955) in St. Petersburg (1909-1920), die Fassungen von Hans Werner Henzes Erster Sinfonie (1947, 1963/1991) und eine interkulturelle Perspektive auf musikalisch-rhetorische Techniken in japanischer Biwa-Musik.
