Matthias Wittig turns pictures into brainteasers. A photo that at first glance looks like a casual snapshot, a frozen moment in time, sometimes conceals an entire storyline. Wittig evidently has an eye for the comically grotesque. Ambiguity seems to hold a fascination for him, as do the odd details that do not quite fit into the picture, thereby turning it into a story. This kind of ambiguity can be spooky and unsettling, but also imbued with humor and comical undertones. However, it is not only individual photos that seem enigmatic, but also the order in which they appear in the book. For what at first looks like a hidden connection often reveals itself to be an arrangement of surfaces and strange, unexpected color gradients that unravel into random chaos. Text in English and German.
High pressure science is a rapidly growing diverse fi. e1d. The high pressure technique has become a powerful tool for both the study and preparation of materials. In spi. te of the many high pressure conferences held in recent years, I felt that there was a need for scientists within a well-defined area (not bound merely by the common experimental technique) to meet in an atmosphere conducive to frank exchange and close interaction. In this spirit, the Cleveland State University hosted such a conference from July 20 to 22, 1977, in which the physics of solids under high pressures and at low tempera tures was specifically examined. Both the original and review papers presented at the confere...
Metabolomics for Personalized Vaccinology provides insight into the importance of personalized vaccines in the clinical and research environments. It explores the development of personalized vaccines, which requires in-depth knowledge of the patient's health status, particularly the immune system, and on metabolomics, the closest indicator of the disease phenotype. Specifically, the book provides an understanding of how metabolomics might be employed in personalized vaccinology and how the metabolic pathway of the host's system is altered by vaccine administration. Over the past few years, researchers have published articles on personalized vaccines, but these are sparse. Therefore, compilin...
Autobiographical writings have been a major cultural genre from antiquity to the present time. General questions of the literary as, e.g., the relation between literature and reality, truth and fiction, the dependency of author, narrator, and figure, or issues of individual and cultural styles etc., can be studied preeminently in the autobiographical genre. Yet, the tradition of life-writing has, in the course of literary history, developed manifold types and forms. Especially in the globalized age, where the media and other technological / cultural factors contribute to a rapid transformation of lifestyles, autobiographical writing has maintained, even enhanced, its popularity and importanc...
This well-respected and established standard work, which has been successful for over three decades, offers a comprehensive introduction into the topic of superconductivity, including its latest developments and applications. The book has been completely revised and thoroughly expanded by Professor Reinhold Kleiner. By dispensing with complicated mathematical derivations, this book is of interest to both science and engineering students. For almost three decades now, the German version of this book - currently in its sixth edition - has been established as one of the state of the art works on superconductivity.

These conference proceedings include the specialized academic lecture and brief contributions presented at the Humans and Computers 2015 conference in Stuttgart. It provides multiple perspectives from research that collectively provide a kaleidoscope of ideas, theories, and methodologies. The conference bridges the gap between theory and practical implementation with numerous application-oriented essays.
