En la Comedia de San Francisco de Borja, de Matías de Bocanegra, se relata la historia de la emperatriz Isabel de Portugal quien murió en 1539. Poco después su cadáver fue llevado a Granada, según deseo del emperador Carlos V. El cadáver de la bellísima emperatriz fue escoltado por nobles y militares y, al llegar a la entrada de Granada el 16 de mayo de 1539, su ataúd fue abierto para verificar su contenido. Al ver en qué estado habían quedado los restos de la hermosísima Isabel, Francisco de Borja dijo: "Ya no serviré más a señor que se pueda morir". Y entró en la Compañía de Jesús, dando pie al argumento de la Comedia de San Francisco de Borja. El Papa Clemente XI lo canonizó en 1671 como san Francisco de Borja.
