Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents a major public health problem worldwide. Fortunately most CRCs originate from a precursor lesion, the adenoma, which is accessible and removable. This is the rationale for CRC screening programs, which are aimed to diagnose CRC at an early stage or even better to detect and resect the advanced adenoma before CRC has developed. In this background colonoscopy emerges as the main tool to achieve these goals with recent evidence supporting its role in CRC prevention. This book deals with several topics to be faced when implementing a CRC screening program. The interested reader will learn about the rationale and challenges of implementing such a program, the management of the detected lesions, the prevention of complications of colonoscopy, and finally the use of other screening modalities that are emerging as valuable alternatives. The relevance of the topics covered in it and the updated evidence included by the authors turn this book into a very useful tool to introduce the reader in this amazing and evolving field.

Principles of Surgical Oncology

The synthesis during the present decade of different arts and sciences to form oncology as a mUltidisciplinary subject is of profound importance for coordinating the clinical and research efforts to control a number of diseases that cause high mortality and morbidity in the human race and to elucidate their causation. The word cancer, because it is synonymous with diseases that cause suffering and death, naturally generates fear in people throughout the world. Cancer fortunately has a changing face caused by the re...

Laparo-Endoscopic Surgery

It is now clear that minimally-invasive procedures have become established in the surgical armamentarium and have made a major impact on the speed, cost and recovery time of many operations. Not surprisingly, those at the forefront of surgery are constantly trying to apply minimally-invasive methods to an increasing number of operations. Probably the most useful and versatile of these approaches is laparoscopy. This lavishly illustrated book presents an overview of all the surgical techniques currently possible using the laparoscopic route under endoscopic guidance. The chapters have been written primarily by those who have established themselves as the leading exponents of these techniques. Most of the top names in minimally-invasive surgery are represented in this text; they offer the benefit of their own experiences with each technique and explain their outcomes.

The Cost

The world needs a strong America, and America needs an economic revival after the Coronavirus season of shutdowns. Can the playbook that resulted in the greatest job market in history put Americans back to work? From the first moments of his presidency, Donald J. Trump put US economic revival at the top of his agenda. Cutting red tape and slashing business tax rates made companies eager to locate in America again. A surge in corporate investment led to record numbers of US job openings. But there was also another force at work at the start of the Trump era, and it’s impossible to provide a fair accounting of Trump’s governance without noting the unique obstacles he’s faced. The Preside...
