My first project was to publish a set of texts written by Schrodinger at the beginning of the 1950's for his seminars and lectures at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. These almost completely forgotten texts contained important insights into the interpretation of quantum mechanics, and they provided several ideas which were missing or elusively expressed in SchrOdinger's published papers and books of the same period. The Disembodied Mind
Since classical times we have seen considerable progress in our understanding of the physical world through the disciplines of science. However, when it comes to the mind and its most palpable property, consciousness, we have difficulty attempting any kind of meaningful discussion. Can material things be conscious, or is the mind entirely separate from physics? If we insist on the latter, how does the mind relate to the physical world? Relying more on evidence rooted in the empirical sciences than on standard philosophical arguments, this book disseminates a persuasive and self-consistent model implying an objective mind completely unconnected with anything physical. Moreover it means that the mind has no effect on the physical domain, but, by free volition, is able to navigate its way through a myriad of configurations that constitute the world we experience.
Free Will and Consciousness in the Multiverse
It is hard to interpret quantum mechanics. The most surprising, but also most parsimonious, interpretation is the many-worlds, or quantum-multiverse interpretation, implying a permanent coexistence of parallel realities. Could this perhaps be the appropriate interpretation of quantum mechanics? This book collects evidence for this interpretation, both from physics and from other fields, and proposes a subjectivist version of it, the clustered-minds multiverse. The author explores its implications through the lens of decision making and derives consequences for free will and consciousness. For example, free will can be implemented in the form of vectorial choices, as introduced in the book. He furthermore derives consequences for research in the social sciences, especially in psychology and economics.
Quantum Entanglement in High Energy Physics
This book is devoted to research topics in quantum entanglement at the energy frontier of particle and nuclear physics, and important interdisciplinary collaborations with colleagues from fields outside of physics. A non-exhaustive list of examples of the latter can include mathematics, computer science, social sciences, philosophy, and how physics can interact with them in a way that supports successful outcomes. These are exciting times in the field of quantum information science, with new research results and their applications in society exhibiting themselves rather frequently. But what is even more exciting is that the frequency of these new results and their applications increases with a rapidity that will motivate new methods, new theories, new experiments, and new collaborations outside of the field that future researchers will find quite challenging.
