David Korty
David Korty's recent work portrays a stylistically complex space in which his calligraphic alphabet of pencil lines, paint strokes, and colour forms coalesce into dense, seamless compositions. the simple images of everyday life - women reading magazines, couples milling about, figures waiting in line, and a man surveying a botanical garden betray the seeming mundanity of the subjects and reveal a kind of slow-burning introspection. the stillness of the figures and shapes in the paintings give way to a roving movement of the eye and hand. A voracious curiosity that asks us to look closer at the things which are already in front of us. The Tree Show
"The Tree Show" exhibition book is a showcase of pieces from Mark Ryden's 2007 major solo exhibition at the Michael Kohn Gallery in Los Angeles. The Tree Show Book features over 130 color images including Mark's paintings, drawings, studies, and sculptural works; also includes a wealth of Mark's inspirational reference materials as well as an essay by Holly Meyers and artist's statement.
Wallace Berman
Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the artist's accidental death at age 50, this volume offers the first substantial survey of the entire oeuvre of Wallace Berman (1926-76) from the late 1940s until 1976. Berman intersected with several intriguing cultural moments, starting with his first Los Angeles solo show in 1957 at Ed Kienholz and Walter Hopps' Ferus Gallery.
