When IRA Chief of Staff Mick O'Reilly, known as 'The Big Man', rescued the wounded Brendan Donnelly from under the noses of the British Paras the same night that his brother and top IRA marksman, Liam Donnelly, was shot and killed in the Falls Road, he had no idea that the same man would return ten years later with a plot that could destabilise the whole of the Western World - or that he would use his dead brother's thirteen year old son as a weapon of destruction. At the same time Salim Bin Gaafar, 'The Fist of Allah', is planning a multiple suicide bombing that would lead to the biggest loss of life on the United Kingdom mainland since the Second World War. Brigadier John Mason and his unofficial 'Crazy Gang' of top level operatives have only a very limited time to seek out and destroy both these threats to world order.

People have asked me why I don't write a novel. Well, one or two people have asked me that. I always reply that I am a sprinter and not a long-distance runner. Indeed, I prefer the fifty to the hundred-yard dash. The short form is a lovely thing. For years I have admired its economy, its punch, its subtlety. It's a perfect vehicle for me because I like to cut to the chase, and I don't like long-winded descriptions. Then, too, I see life as a comedy rather than a tragedy. Tragedy works better with lots of words; whoever heard of a five-hundred-word tragedy? On the other hand, comedy can be short and sweet. Reader Comments on Menage a Trois by Jack Swenson "Short and interesting, really enjoyable. Hard to put the book down, knowing another little gem follows." "Courageous writing." "The author is a compassionate person who is very aware of the world around him." "Swenson has a knack for understated humor." "I am a fan!" "Brilliant!" "An amazing work."

The Rising (New Edition)

The Easter Rising of 1916 not only destroyed much of the centre of Dublin — it changed the course of Irish history. But why did it happen? What was the role of ordinary people in this extraordinary event? What motivated them and what were their aims? These basic questions continue to divide historians of modern Ireland. The Rising is the story of Easter 1916 from the perspective of those who made it, focusing on the experiences of rank and file revolutionaries. Fearghal McGarry makes use of a unique source that has only recently seen the light of day — a collection of over 1,700 eye-witness statements detailing the political activities of members of Sinn Féin and militant groups such as...
