President Chaon was in the first year of his second term. A gigantic fundraiser was being held at the Colonial Hotel in Washington, DC. Nearly every Democratic Senator and Congressman as well as most of the Cabinet officers were in attendance. Only the Secretary of HUD, Donna Eiseland and the newly appointed Secretary of Interior, Cody Clark, were absent. Shortly after the gala event started, an explosion caused the hotel to implode killing nearly the entire line of Presidential succession. Soon after the explosion, three countries invade their neighbors and others are poised to do the same. Quick and decisive action is required to avert World War III. The new President is tested when one of the aggressor nations fires a nuclear missile at an American Airbase. The United States military is called into action to bring a return to world peace. In the midst of this chaos, it was politics as usual in the United States Congress. Senate and House leaders were involved in a power struggle with the new President. The government must determine who financed and carried out the Mass assassination and how to punish those responsible for the tragedy.

Pharmacological Actions of Drugs in the Brain: Exploring the Intricacies and Potential Therapeutic Applications

The study of pharmacological actions of drugs in the brain is a field that constantly uncovers new insights into the mechanisms of action behind various substances. This proposal aims to explore into the intriguing topics of psychedelics, cannabinoids, classical and novel antidepressants, anxiolytic treatments, and substances commonly associated with neuropsychiatric disorders such as alcohol, ketamine, and opiates. The ultimate goal is to unravel their neurological impacts, shed light on potential therapeutic applications, and explore their relationship with brain disorders, while also investigating the influence of sex/gender on drug response. Biological differences between sexes can influence how medications are metabolized and processed in the body. Understanding these relationships and considering hormonal factors is crucial for optimizing treatment outcomes and tailoring medication regimens to individual needs.

Chronicle of Malaysia

This revised and updated edition of the Chronicle of Malaysia brings the full dramatic sweep of Malaysia's history up to date, taking the reader through the nation's first 50 years from the formation of Malaysia in 1963 all the way to 2013. It is packed with illustrated news stories covering hundreds of the nation's key social, political, cultural and sporting events. This book offers a systematic overview of the concepts and practical techniques that readers need to get the most out of their large-scale data mining projects and research studies. It guides them through the data-analytical thinking essential to extract useful information and obtain commercial value from the data. Presenting the outcomes of International Conference on Soft Computing and Data Mining (SCDM-2017), held in Johor, Malaysia on February 6–8, 2018, it provides a well-balanced integration of soft computing and data mining techniques. The two constituents are brought together in various combinations of applications and practices. To thrive in these data-driven ecosystems, researchers, engineers, data analysts, practitioners, and managers must understand the design choice and options of soft computing and data mining techniques, and as such this book is a valuable resource, helping readers solve complex benchmark problems and better appreciate the concepts, tools, and techniques employed.

How to Make a Killing: Blood, Death and Dollars in American Medicine

“Inspiring and deeply distressing.” —Ezekiel J. Emanuel, author of Which Country Has the World’s Best Health Care? How did a lifesaving medical breakthrough become a for-profit enterprise that threatens many of the people it’s meant to save? Six decades ago, visionary doctors achieved the impossible: the humble kidney, acknowledged since ancient times to be as essential to life as the heart, became the first human organ to be successfully replaced with a machine. Yet huge dialysis corporations, ambitious doctor-entrepreneurs and Beltway lobbyists soon turned this medical miracle into an early experiment in for-profit medicine—and one of the nation’s worst healthcare catastrophe...
