¿Qué comprendemos por sociedades automatizadas? Podríamos decir de manera muy concreta: Algo de lo que apenas podemos tener noción de sus alcances. O, en otras palabras, el orden social propuesto para superar el sistema productivo del tipo capitalista hacia un nuevo modelo de vida emergente para el siglo XXI. Esto debe comprenderse en el marco de la revolución tecnocientífica iniciada en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Para algunos como el filósofo Ramón Chaverry Soto únicamente comparables con la invención del fuego, para otros con el descubrimiento de la agricultura, (como es el caso de James Burke y Robert Ornstein en su libro del hacha al chip) o con revoluciones científicas como las iniciadas por Newton, según él sociólogo Pablo González Casanova. Todas estas transformaciones empujan una nueva era, la cual, obligatoriamente es acompañada de un nuevo sistema social, diversas formas de reorganización geopolítica y tendencias científicas de las que no podemos tener conocimientos de sus alcances.
