Performing Modernism
Der Band befasst sich mit der Moderne in Design und darstellender Kunst im Rumänien der Zwischenkriegszeit. Er folgt den transnationalen Wegen bemerkenswerter jüdischer Künstler/-innen, Schauspieler/-innen und Regisseur/-innen der Avantgarde, die in den 1920er- und 30er-Jahren in Bukarest tätig waren. Das Buch deckt einerseits die Geschichte von Bukarests erster moderner Designinstitution auf und untersucht die Verbindungen zu deutschem Design und Bauhaus. Der Fokus liegt andererseits auf innovativen Kollaborationen im Bereich des jiddischen Theaters, darunter der Aufenthalt der weltbekannten Wilnaer Truppe in Rumänien. Die Autorin zeigt auf, wie Bukarest mit Berlin, Riga und Chicago in Verbindung stand, und beleuchtet den Beitrag jüdischen Kulturschaffens zur Avantgardebewegung in Europa und darüber hinaus.
Beyond the Fascist Century
This book evaluates the current and future state of fascism studies, reflecting on the first hundred years of fascism and looking ahead to a new era in which fascism studies increasingly faces fresh questions concerning its relevance and the potential reappearance of fascism. This wide-ranging work celebrates Roger Griffin’s contributions to fascism studies – in conceptual and definitional terms, but also in advancing our understanding of fascism – which have informed related research in a number of fields and directions since the 1990s. Bringing together three ‘generations’ of fascism scholars, the book offers a combination of broad conceptual essays and contributions focusing on particular themes and facets of fascism. The book features chapters, which, although diverse in their approaches, explore Griffin’s work while also engaging critically with other schools of thought. As such, it identifies new avenues of research in fascism studies, placing Griffin’s work within the context of new and emerging voices in the field.
Kulturtransferprozesse im postimperialen Umfeld
Der vorliegende Band sammelt Beiträge zur internationalen Tagung, die vom 12. bis 15. Oktober 2022 unter Beteiligung von Historikern, Germanisten, Juristen, Soziologen aus Deutschland, Österreich, den USA, Ungarn und Rumänien in Sibiu als abschließende Veranstaltung im Rahmen des Projekts "Deutsche Sprache und Kultur in Rumänien (1918-1933). Postimperiales Gefüge, öffentlicher Diskurs und Kulturfelder" stattfand. Das vom rumänischen Ministerium für Forschung und Innovation zwischen 2019-2022 finanzierte Vorhaben hatte zum Ziel alle Elemente zu erfassen, zu vertiefen und miteinander zu verknüpfen, die das durchaus vielfältige Mosaik der Präsenz der deutschen Sprache und Kultur auf dem Gebiet des rumänischen Staates nach der Vereinigung aller historischen Provinzen mit mehrheitlich rumänischsprachiger Bevölkerung ausmachten. Die Tagung beleuchtete weitere Aspekte seines Anliegens, eine für den 1918 neu definierten staatlichen Raum Rumäniens wesentliche Momentaufnahme des kontinuierlichen deutschrumänischen Kulturtransfers zu rekonstruieren.

Mapping Impressionist Painting in Transnational Contexts
This book offers microhistories related to the transnational circulations of impressionism in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The contributors rethink the role of "French" impressionism in shaping these iterations by placing France within its global and imperialist context and arguing that impressionisms might be framed through the mobility studies’ concept of "constellations of mobility." Artists engaging with impressionism in France, as in other global contexts, relied on, responded to, appropriated, and resisted elements of form and content based on fluid and interconnected political realities and market structures. Written by scholars and curators, the chapters demand reconsideration of impressionism as a historical construct and the meanings assigned to that term. This project frames future discussion in art history, cultural studies, and global studies on the politics of appropriating impressionism.

Volumul prezintă o selecție de comunicări susținute la colocviile Eurostudii ale Facultății de Litere a Universității din București, adunate de-a lungul câtorva ani și dezvoltate de regulă în cercetări mai ample. Textele acoperă o problematică diversă, reflectând, pe de o parte, aspecte ale identității și culturii europene sub raport istoric, dar și, pe de altă parte, unghiuri sensibile ale privirii contemporane, inclusiv românești. Autorii textelor sunt fie foarte tineri, pasionați încă de studiul teoretic, fie s-au încumetat deja să pătrundă în arhive pentru a descifra publicații vechi sau să își urmeze curiozitățile în terenuri antropologice inedite. Unii semnatari ai textelor publicate au deja în spate practica unei meserii, alții urmează în prezent masterate sau chiar specializări nedezvoltate în România. Coordonatele lor pe o „hartă” imaginară a cercetării se vor mai schimba, suntem siguri, dar prezența sperăm să le rămână constantă.
