El Instituto de Educación de Aguascalientes (IEA), a través de la Dirección de Planeación y Evaluación, la Subdirección de Evaluación y su Departamento de Investigación Educativa, pone al alcance de la comunidad este libro titulado Estado de la educación en Aguascalientes: líneas de investigación educativa, con el objetivo de definir líneas de investigación pertinentes para cada tipo educativo del Sistema Educativo Estatal que respondan a las problemáticas o necesidades educativas del Estado, a la vez que remitan a la actualidad y tendencias en investigación a nivel local. Tal intencionalidad se dirige, en principio, a documentar y reconocer el tipo de investigaciones educativas que se desarrollan en el Estado, con atención a cada nivel educativo, que representan el uso de procedimientos serios, rigurosos, cuidadosos o especializados, y que a la par incentivan el fortalecimiento del campo y elevan la calidad educativa de las diversas instituciones de educación en Aguascalientes. Todo ello a fin de constituir un referente de uso para el IEA, para las y los investigadores educativos y para la comunidad educativa en general.

Converso Non-Conformism in Early Modern Spain
This book examines the effects of Jewish conversions to Christianity in late medieval Spanish society. Ingram focuses on these converts and their descendants (known as conversos) not as Judaizers, but as Christian humanists, mystics and evangelists, who attempt to create a new society based on quietist religious practice, merit, and toleration. His narrative takes the reader on a journey from the late fourteenth-century conversions and the first blood purity laws (designed to marginalize conversos), through the early sixteenth-century Erasmian and radical mystical movements, to a Counter-Reformation environment in which conversos become the advocates for pacifism and concordance. His account ends at the court of Philip IV, where growing intolerance towards Madrid’s converso courtiers is subtly attacked by Spain’s greatest painter, Diego Velázquez, in his work, Los Borrachos. Finally, Ingram examines the historiography of early modern Spain, in which he argues the converso reform phenomenon continues to be underexplored.

The Orient in Spain
Taking as its main subject a series of notorious forgeries by Muslim converts in sixteenth-century Granada (including an apocryphal gospel in Arabic), this book studies the emotional, cultural and religious world view of the Morisco minority and the complexity of its identity, caught between the wish to respect Arabic cultural traditions, and the pressures of evangelization and efforts at integration into “Old Christian” society. Orientalist scholarship in Early Modern Spain, in which an interest in Oriental languages, mainly Arabic, was linked to important historiographical questions, such as the uses and value of Arabic sources and the problem of the integration of al-Andalus within a providentialist history of Spain, is also addressed. The authors consider these issues not only from a local point of view, but from a wider perspective, in an attempt to understand how these matters related to more general European intellectual and religious developments.
Theory-Driven Evaluations
A new, comprehensive framework for programme evaluation designed to bridge the gap between the method- and theory-oriented perspectives, is presented in this book, newly available in paper. Chen provides an intensive discussion of the nature and functions of programme theory, approaches to constructing programme theories, and the integration of programme theory with evaluation processes. Specific types of theory-driven evaluations, as well as principles and guidelines for application, are developed for meeting different policy purposes. Application of systematic strategies is illustrated by concrete examples from a variety of evaluation studies in different fields.
