Basic Mechanisms and Clinical Treatment of Tumor Metastasis provides information pertinent to the basic mechanism of tumor metastasis and the clinical results with immunochemotherapy of cancer. Papers of the Nov.-Dec. 1988 meeting held as a follow-up to that which took place in Fukuoka in 1983. The title has changed to therapy from immunobiology owing to our clearer grasp of the basic mechanisms of antitumor immunity through our increasing knowledge of various effector cells and their soluble mediators such as lymphokines and cytokines. The participants were largely Japanese and Americans. The former have had the advantage of some ten years of use of many biological response modifiers (BRM). They have developed much data on the basic mechanisms of action through clinical trials. The papers deal with tumor cell biology, effector cells and molecules, approaches to immunotherapy, experiments with BRMs and their clinical use. Lacks a subject index.
