The world is a dark and ruinous place, all that was once lush and teeming with life has long since burned to ash. Dragon shifters, called Drakes, now rule the world after overthrowing the humans that had ruled for so long. What humans and peace-loving shifters that survived all now cluster on a single scrap of land in the middle of the wasteland. Trish, a Drake who once served the very humans her species helped wipe out, finds herself running these Neutral Lands with several other enterprising souls. However, their supplies are dwindling and the winters are growing longer while vicious Drakes continue to whittle at what little resources they have. It’s an impossible situation, and Trish finds she must make an impossible choice as she struggles to save her adopted people. Along the way, she meets foes and friend alike, one of them in the shape of the delicious Rohan, a shifter who might just be more than he appears to be. Together, they must join forces and find out just how much they can do. Apocalypse
"This manuscript is a fresh look at determining the location of the 1579 landing site of Sir Francis Drake on the northwest coast of North America to repair his ship, the Golden Hind. This landing location has long been debated and was claimed by California, especially with the finding of the brass plate thought to be an artifact of Drake's landing located on a hill overlooking San Francisco Bay. Although the brass plate was supposedly authenticated in 1938, by 1977 it was proven to be a hoax, yet no re-examination of the landing question or associated data was completed"--Provided by publisher.

The first book to investigate Jane Austen's popular significance today, Everybody's Jane considers why Austen matters to amateur readers, how they make use of her novels, what they gain from visiting places associated with her, and why they create works of fiction and nonfiction inspired by her novels and life. The voices of everyday readers emerge from both published and unpublished sources, including interviews conducted with literary tourists and archival research into the founding of the Jane Austen Society of North America and the exceptional Austen collection of Alberta Hirshheimer Burke of Baltimore.Additional topics include new Austen portraits; portrayals of Austen, and of Austen fans, in film and fiction; and hybrid works that infuse Austen's writings with horror, erotica, or explicit Christianity.Everybody's Jane will appeal to all those who care about Austen and will change how we think about the importance of literature and reading today.
