Robert Loving jatuh cinta kepada Mildred jeter. Ini gadis berkulit hitam. Robert tak hanya jatuh cinta, tapi Ia berkehendak menikahi Mildred. Di era kini, siapa yang menduga? Di jantung negara demokrasi dunia, Amerika Serikat, di Virginia tahun 1950an, kulit putih dilarang menikah dengan kulit hitam. Film Loving (2016) tak hanya menyentuh rasa iba, simpati, amarah dan sedih. Ia juga mengajarkan kita tentang sepotong sejarah di masa lalu. Kisah aneh tapi nyata. Wow, begitu esensial yang dapat diajarkan oleh sebuah film. Orson Welles, satu dari filmmaker terbesar sepanjang sejarah berkata. Film hanya akan bagus jika ia dipotret dari hati seorang penyair. Karena 35 skenario ini berdasarkan puisi esai, sesuai dengan kutipan Orson Welles itu, 35 skenario ini potensial diolah menjadi film yang bagus. Yang inspiratif.
