Women and the Transmission of Religious Knowledge in Islam
Asma Sayeed's book explores the history of women as religious scholars from the first decades of Islam through the early Ottoman period. Ḥadīth Literature
The hadith, the sayings attributed to the Prophet Muhammad, form a sacred literature which for the Muslims ranks second in importance only to the Qur'an itself.
