Die Turkei gilt als Brucke zwischen Europa und Asien und wurde lange Zeit als Beispiel fur eine islamisch bestimmte, aber doch demokratische Gesellschaftsordnung zitiert. DAs Verhaltnis von Staat und Gesellschaft zu den christlichen Minderheiten im Land war jedoch nie frei von Spannungen. Die vorliegende Studie untersucht, wie turkische Tageszeitungen als Sprachrohre verschiedener soziopolitischer Milieus der Turkei Christen und ihren Glauben wahrnehmen. REligiose, historische und politische Hintergrunde der vorwiegend negativen Wahrnehmungen werden herausgearbeitet. DIe missionswissenschaftliche Arbeit versucht abschlieSSend, biblisch-theologisch begrundete Reaktionen fur Christen in der Turkei und in ahnlichen Kontexten nahezulegen.
