Bagi kami, dalam kehidupan, manusia sejatinya adalah makhluk yang tak pernah berhenti mengalami perubahan, dinamis dan selalu memiliki kesempatan untuk menjadi lebih baik. Buku Menjadi Manusia yang Manusia yang kami susun ini, merupakan sebuah jalan, bagaimana menjadi manusia yang seutuhnya. Diambil dari berbagai perspektif mengenai manusia dalam menjalankan kehidupan, yang sesuai dengan harapan semua orang. Buku ini disuguhkan bagi mereka, yang tidak hanya ingin sekedar hidup, melainkan menginginkan hidup dengan makna. Buku ini terdiri dari dua puluh satu judul bab yang dikelompokan kedalam empat chapter, berisi ragam pemikiran mengenai manusia, berbagai pengalaman hidup yang menjadi pelajaran penting, dan refleksi dari banyaknya cerita hidup yang para penulis rasakan. Dengan segala bentuk keunikan manusia, penulis berusaha untuk membungkus, berbagai pengalaman yang menjadi pelajaran hidup, memaknainya dan kemudian mengemasnya dalam bahasa cinta. Semoga tulisan sederhana ini, dapat memberikan dampak baik bagi kami sebagai penulis, dan bagi para pembacanya. Atas segala bentuk kesempatan, dengan kerendahan hati, kami haturkan terima kasih.

“Every secret of a writer’s soul, every experience his life, every quality of his mind, is written large in his works.” — Virginia Woolf This anthology presents 50 selected personal narrative essays by the students of Study Program of English, Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya who were taking Genre Based Writing Class. The personal narrative essay is one of the three genres that the students learned and practiced in this class. This book is expected to give an opportunity for the students to tell their personal experiences to a wider audience and to get inspired to write more. While reading the book, the audience will be able to catch a glimpse of what memorable experiences these young writers have. Some of these experiences are beautiful, some others are upsetting, scary, or sad, but all of them have taught an important lesson to the writers.
