Composite materials have aroused a great interest over the last few decades, as proven by the huge number of scientific papers and industrial progress. The increase in the use of composite structures in different engineering practices justify the present international meeting where researches from every part of the globe can share and discuss the recent advancements regarding the use of structural components within advanced applications such as buckling, vibrations, repair, reinforcements, concrete, composite laminated materials and more recent metamaterials. Studies about composite structures are truly multidisciplinary and the given contributions can help other researches and professional ...
Advanced Structural Textile Composites Forming: Characterization, Modeling, and Simulation comprehensively describes the influence of fiber/fabric architectures and properties on composites forming, along with their deformability and structural optimization, covering the latest advances in the composites forming field. Part one reviews textile reinforcement architectures and discusses the forming behaviors of important 2D and 3D fabrics. Part two discusses numerical models to conduct simulation analysis of different structural composites forming at mesoscopic and macroscopic scales, in particular, 3D preforms with through-the-thickness yarns. Part three looks at the latest developments in th...
This book is devoted to the 60th birthday of the Prof. Francesco dell’Isola, who is known for his long-term contribution in the field of multiscale materials. It contains several contributions from researchers in the field, covering theoretical analyses, computational aspects and experiments.
Interdisciplinary development approaches for system-efficient lightweight design unite a comprehensive understanding of materials, processes and methods. This applies particularly to continuous fibre-reinforced plastics (CoFRPs), which offer high weight-specific material properties and enable load path-optimised designs. This thesis is dedicated to understanding and modelling Wet Compression Moulding (WCM) to facilitate large-volume production of CoFRP structural components.
In this work, initially, the requirements on a simulation model of the non-isothermal stamp forming process of unidirectional fiber-reinforced, and thermoplastic tape laminates are investigated experimentally. On this basis, different isothermal as well as a fully coupled thermomechanical simulation model under consideration of the crystallization kinetics are developed. For validation, a complex shaped geometry is simulated and compared to experimental forming results.
This volume highlights the latest advances, innovations, and applications in the field of metal forming, as presented by leading international researchers and engineers at the 14th International Conference on Technology of Plasticity (ICTP), held in Mandelieu-La Napoule, France on September 24-29, 2023. It covers a diverse range of topics such as manufacturing processes & equipment, materials behavior and characterization, microstructure design by forming, surfaces & interfaces, control & optimization, green / sustainable metal forming technologies, digitalization & AI in metal forming, multi-material processing, agile / flexible metal forming processes, forming of non-metallic materials, micro-forming and luxury applications. The contributions, which were selected by means of a rigorous international peer-review process, present a wealth of exciting ideas that will open novel research directions and foster multidisciplinary collaboration among different specialists.
Composite Reinforcements for Optimum Performance, Second Edition, has been brought fully up to date with the latest developments in the field. It reviews the materials, properties and modelling techniques used in composite production and highlights their uses in optimizing performance. Part I covers materials for reinforcements in composites, including chapters on fibers, carbon nanotubes and ceramics as reinforcement materials. In Part II, different types of structures for reinforcements are discussed, with chapters covering woven and braided reinforcements, three-dimensional fibre structures and two methods of modelling the geometry of textile reinforcements: WiseTex and TexGen. Part III f...

Braiding is a very old textile manufacturing technology that traditionally has been used to produce items like ropes, shoe laces, and cables. Recently, braiding has gained attention in the medical, aerospace, transportation, and civil engineering communities, among others, due to its ability to produce structures that can fulfill the explicit deman
