ASEAN and Human Trafficking
Trafficking in persons is a serious crime that affects the human rights, dignity and integrity of all its victims including women, men, and children in the Association of Southeast Asia Nation (ASEAN) region. ASEAN has made efforts to fight human trafficking through inter alia the establishment of regional counter-human trafficking laws and human rights bodies to establish best norms and practices for its member countries. Nevertheless, the International Labour Organization (ILO) recently declared that there are more than 11.7 million forced labor victims in the Asia-Pacific region encompassing the biggest concentration of forced labour victims in the world. This volume reviews the achievements and the deficiencies of ASEAN’s counter-human strategies at the national and regional level. It offers suggestions for the reform of ASEAN's anti-trafficking laws and for the creation of a regional anti-trafficking human rights body specialized in preventing human trafficking, promoting equal protection of all trafficking victims, and prosecuting human traffickers.
A Proposal to Strengthen the ASEAN's Role in the Fight Against Trafficking in Persons
The intensity of human trafficking victims in the ASEAN region has raised concern that counter-human trafficking strategies at the national and regional stages are deficient. At the regional level, ASEAN has failed to create a sufficient anti-human trafficking law, structure, or human rights bodies because they have not provided equal protection for all trafficking victims. Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam will be studied at the national stage to address their insufficient anti-human trafficking laws (namely non-prosecution of trafficking victims, appropriate housing, age, gender, and special needs of trafficking victims) and practices (including protection of male victims, victim identification, and criminalization of human trafficking perpetrators).

Health Rights of Older People
The book examines the health rights of older persons who are more likely potentially to face various disadvantages in terms of healthcare access and affordability, thereby impacting on health outcomes. The point of departure in the analyses is that the health security of older persons is guaranteed only if a country approaches the health of its citizens out of moral obligation, viewing health and well-being as a right rather than an entitlement. Data from five countries in the ASEAN region are analysed with the intent of highlighting the health inequalities and barriers at the societal and individual levels, on the one hand, as well as the gaps at the health and healthcare policy and programmatic levels within each country, on the other. It is also intended that the analyses of the data from the selected countries which represent different stages of development, and thus income levels, provide a useful comparative framework for policymakers in the ASEAN region.
Perbudakan Modern Anak Buah Kapal Ikan (ABKI) Asal Indonesia
Buku ini adalah mengenai kasus Tindak Pidana Perdagangan Orang (TPPO) terhadap Anak Buah Kapal Ikan (ABKI) asal Indonesia di kapal penangkap ikan berbendera asing. Buku ini mencoba menawarkan sebuah usulan model pemolisian alternatif yang dapat mengatasi persoalan TPPO ABKI di masa mendatang, yang dinamakan pemolisian inklusif. Kasus yang diangkat dalam buku ini adalah kasus PT Kartigo. Satu-satunya kasus yang hingga saat ini berhasil mendapat putusan pengadilan hingga para korban mendapatkan restitusi sesuai putusan pengadilan. Kasus ini dielaborasi sebagai argumen untuk merekomendasikan dimasukkannya kelompok ABKI dalam revisi UU No. 21/2007 tentang TPPO. Buku ini menyimpulkan bahwa konstruksi sosial Tindak Pidana Perdagangan Orang (TPPO) terhadap Anak Buah Kapal Ikan (ABKI) asal Indonesia terdiri dari 3 tingkatan analisis, yakni: mikro, mezzo dan makro. Ketiga tingkatan analisis inilah yang menjelaskan model pemolisian alternatif yang dinamakan pemolisian inklusif.
