O Agente Comunitário de Saúde (ACS) tem confirmado sua forte representação nas ações de promoção, prevenção, proteção e vigilância à saúde oferecidas à população, sobretudo àquelas em situação de vulnerabilidade social, o que envolve a articulação de políticas sociais e de saúde, caracterizando, assim, um processo de trabalho complexo e abrangente. Com o objetivo de analisá-lo, à luz dos atores implicados na Estratégia Saúde da Família (ESF) de dois cenários diversos do Estado do Ceará, a Teoria do Processo de Trabalho em Saúde, formulada por Ricardo Bruno Mendes Gonçalves, em 1988, foi utilizada como marco de referência.
