This report provides a summary of presentations on the following topics: the Self-Sufficiency Project for lone parents; Opportunities 2000, an innovative, holistic, community-based approach to poverty reduction; barriers to adult education and training; LearnSave, a pilot program to assist low-income Canadians to build assets for education; maternity benefits; child care. It also summarizes discussions between the Council and people who have had experience with the issues and programs addressed in the presentations.
