Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Excerpt from Observations on Naval Hygiene and Scurvy: More Particularly as the Latter Appeared During a Polar Voyage The Observations contained in the following pages are not presented as a systematic Treatise on either Hygiene or Scurvy; but as they are of a practical nature, it has occurred to me that they might not prove an unacceptable addition to the knowledge which we at present possess on these subjects. Those on Scurvy have been compiled from the Journal of my Practice, kept during a prolonged period of service in H.M.S.
