"The College of Pharmacy at Rutgers University is exemplary of the proprietary schools that flowered during the late nineteenth century. In this instance, the College evolved into an integral part of a major state university, despite frustrations and travail. Only a dozen colleges of pharmacy have had their histories analyzed so extensively.
