Biography of a Yogini

This unique book tells about the life of two exceptional beings, one human, the other non-human. Both showed miraculous incorruptibility after death. Their bodies have been buried together after the Mauritian Health authorities conducted an independent investigation and certified the miracle. The miraculous incorruptibility of Yogini Shubh Veer’s body created a sensation at the Lord Veer Siddha Ashram, on the island of Mauritius. She was kept at room temperature at the ashram from the 8th of August 2022 to the next new moon day on the 27th when the final rites were performed. Special permission was received for burial on the ashram premises from local health authorities, who had conducted an independent investigation. Yogini Shubh Veer was buried together with Jet, a German Shepherd whose body had shown similar incorruptibility 28 years back. Jet had been her constant companion for a decade. After five months of burial, Jet’s body was disinterred intact on July 9th, 1994. Jet was kept inside the ashram, waiting to be sent together with her eternal companion. One soul in two bodies. This is a gift revealed from the Absolute God for the whole of humanity. Edited by NISHK

Archaeology of Afghanistan

Afghanistan is at the cultural crossroads of Asia, where the great civilisations of Mesopotamia and Iran, South Asia and Central Asia overlapped and sometimes conflicted. Its landscape embraces environments from the high mountains of the Hindu Kush to the Oxus basin and the great deserts of Sistan; trade routes from China to the Mediterranean, and from Central Asia to the Arabian Sea cross the country. It has seen the development of early agriculture, the spread of Bronze Age civilisation of Central Asia, the conquests of the Persians and of Alexander of Macedon, the spread of Buddhism and then Islam, and the empires of the Kushans, Ghaznavids, Ghurids and Timurids centred there, with ramifi...

‘His ideas and his contribution to Indian literature were . . . revolutionary’ —The Hindu Divya leads a blissful life within the secure walls of the palace even as the world outside rages with caste politics and religious strife, until one night of pleasure changes her entire world. She gets pregnant only to be spurned by her lover. To preserve her high born family’s name she leaves her sheltered existence and trudges through life on her own, first as a slave and then as a court dancer. Adversity finally opens her eyes to the truth—a woman of a high family is not free. Only a prostitute is free. Divya decides that, by enslaving her body, she will preserve the freedom of her mind. Set in the first century BC against a background of the conflict for supremacy between Hindu and Buddhist ideologies, Divya is a poignant tale that combines vivid imagination with rich historical details. ‘Reminiscent of George Orwell . . . Here too is the biting satire of society as seen through the savage eye of an uncompromising non-conformist’—Dawn

Kukum
