Anger in the Long Nineteenth Century
This edited collection traverses the genre of anger studies by documenting its transition from the Classical age up to our present-day cognizance of the philosophical, socio-historical, psycho-physiological and pathological theorizations of anger. The book illustrates how literature may systematically document and even institutionalize primal, emotive outbursts, providing meaningful analysis for scholars across various disciplines. The contributions here cover a wide spectrum of critical works, ranging from Aristotle’s Rhetoric, Seneca’s De Ira and Plutarch’s On Restraining Anger to Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra, as well as notable nineteenth century texts by authors such as E.T.A. Hoffmann, Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Bronte, Matthew Arnold, Algernon Swinburne, Rudyard Kipling and Henry Lawson.

“Coolie” is a generic category for the “unskilled” manual labour. The offering of services for hire had various pre-colonial lineages. In the nineteenth century there was an attempt to recast the term in discursive constructions and material practices for “mobilized-immobilized” labour. Ihre Funktion ist zum einen eine Dokumentation der Arbeit. Zum anderen sollen aber wichtige Fragestellungen in die Universität und deutsche Forschungslandschaft getragen werden. Insbesondere Studierende können davon profitieren. Langfristig sollen re:work-Themen stärker in den normalen Curricula der Lehre Eingang finden. Diese Buchreihe soll ein Anfang sein.

Giving visibility to interesting or leading edge applications of social media is the objective of the Social Media in Practice Excellence Awards Competition. We have been looking for effective social media applications in business or in the public sector. History and Identity
This introduction to contemporary historical theory and practice shows how issues of identity have shaped how we write history. Stefan Berger charts how a new self-reflexivity about what is involved in the process of writing history entered the historical profession and the part that historians have played in debates about the past and its meaningfulness for the present. He introduces key trends in the theory of history such as postmodernism, poststructuralism, constructivism, narrativism and the linguistic turn and reveals, in turn, the ways in which they have transformed how historians have written history over the last four decades. The book ranges widely from more traditional forms of history writing, such as political, social, economic, labour and cultural history, to the emergence of more recent fields, including gender history, historical anthropology, the history of memory, visual history, the history of material culture, and comparative, transnational and global history.
