Just Cate opens in the delivery room with Noelle Alix, a 29-year-old finance attorney in a large New York City firm, whose newborn daughter Cate is unexpectedly born with Down syndrome. On hearing the news, Noelle's childhood friend, Angela Martin, is inspired by her faith to write Noelle a heartfelt note in a baby card. This note and this child spark a transformative 12-year journey of renewed faith and friendship for both women - their second stage of growing up. With humor and heart, the coauthor friends tell a dual tale of the angst and joys of raising a child with a disability, of the power of women friendship, and of Cate's funny poignant early years.

This book explores composed scores and pre-existing music in French cinema from 1985 to 2015 so as to identify critical musical moments. It shows how heritage films construct space through music, generating what Powrie calls “third space music,” while also working to contain the strong women characters found in French heritage films through the use of leitmotifs and musical cues. He analyses fiction films in which the protagonists perform at the piano, showing how musical performance supports the performance of gender. Building on aspects of musical performance, and in particular the use of songs performed in films, Powrie uses a database of 300 films since 2010 to theorize the intervention of music at critical moments as a “crystal-song”. Applying Roland Barthes’s concept of the “punctum” and Gille Deleuze’s concept of the “crystal-image,” Powrie establishes the importance of the crystal-song, which reconfigures time as a crystallization of past, present and future.

Mount Allison University has consistently been ranked among the leading undergraduate universities in Canada over the last two decades. How does a small-town university with a population of just 2,500 students achieve such outstanding successes year after year? According to Dr. Louise Wasylkiw and Dr. Jennifer L. Tomes, it is the exceptional quality of teaching that makes 'Mount A' truly stand out from the crowd. In this volume, Wasylkiw and Tomes have assembled essays from across disciplines that examine the diversity of pedagogical methods and philosophies that instructors currently employ to give Mount A students a modern, critical, and conscientious education experience. Arranged around the themes of course conceptualization, targeted teaching techniques, and going beyond performance assessments to measure students' outcomes, the contributors' essays range widely in scope. Their collective theme, however, is the depth and breadth of the high quality of teaching offered at Mount A.
