Education seeks to provide the intellectual enlightenment and the spiritual emancipation in the search for a better existence for all life on earth. Teacher education must target skills for the 21st Century and beyond them to address the needs of a knowledge society. These days teacher's education system is facing problem of inaptness and irrelevance. There is a visible gap between how students live and how they learn. Schools and colleges have struggled to keep the pace with the rate of change in students' lives inside and outside the educational institution.Innovative educational practices support the development of new capabilities and surfacing stumbling blocks on the road to innovation implementation. The implementation of learning that promotes the development of general capabilities and deep learning approaches in students is at the centre of the paradigmatic changes.
Education has been considered in all times to be an instrument of social change. This objective cannot be attained without having improved the class room practices. Education is the learning of knowledge, information and skills during the course of life. Teachers may draw on many subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science and history. Teachers in specialized professions such as astrophysics, law, or Zoology may teach only a certain subject, usually as professors at institutions of higher learning.

School is the temple of learning. It is a unique institution that plays a dominant role in the life of individuals. Particularly, primary education occupies an important position because it is here that the process of formal learning begins. It lays a sound foundation for a knowledge-based economy in years to come. Primary education is important because it moulds the personalities of our children to lead a better life. It tries to shape the behavior of younger generations. Therefore, primary school is an important institution of our society. There are two levels of primary schools. One is called as lower primary schools (LPS) and the other one is called as higher primary schools (HPS). In LPS, education is imparted from first to fifth standard. In HPS, education is imparted from sixth to eighth standard.
Educating for Worldview consists of an array of essays from scholars from around the world including the Fiji Islands, Hong Kong, Canada, Japan, India, Nigeria, and the United States. The essays included in this volume have been selected from papers and lectures presented at the eleventh Triennial Conference of the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction.
