A Boy from Notteroy

A Boy from Notteroy A book of short stories for reading quietly or out loud. The stories are told by a young boy who grew up without a father, on a small island in southern Norway. His stories are about, soccer and swimming and mischief with all his friends. His grandfather was like a father to the boy, who taught him about the world, both good and bad. The stories are true and took place during the German occupation of Norway, 1940 -1945. The Storyteller JAN ERLING GULLIKSEN first came to Colorado in 1952. He served in the United States Air Force, then spent the next 50 years working in the ski industry. He moved all across the United States and returned to Colorado in 1995. He now lives in Montrose, Colorado with his wife, and two dogs. His next book will be stories about his teenage years; his travels and adventures to Africa, Cuba and the Middle East as a Norwegian merchant marine.

Norway

This well-established cruising guide covers the coast of Norway northwards from the Swedish border in the Skagerrak around the North Cape to the Russian border. This fourth edition incorporates numerous updates to her previous work and expands on the detail for some areas such as the Oslo Fjord and the Telemark Canal. There is a wealth of ...

The A to Z of Norway

One of the smallest countries in Europe, Norway has created for itself a position in the world community, which is completely out of proportion to the size of its population. Originally the home of sub-Arctic hunters and gatherers, then of ferocious Vikings, it lost perhaps half of its population to the Black Death in 1349, ended up in a union with Denmark that lasted until 1814, and then became united with Sweden, gaining complete independence only as recently as 1905. Over the centuries the Norwegians eked out a meager living from stony fields and treacherous seas while suffering through hunger, darkness, and cold, however, its recent productive use of such natural resources as hydroelectr...
