Details on specific imaging modalities for different cellular and tissue engineering applications are scattered throughout articles and chapters in the literature. Gathering this information into a single reference, Imaging in Cellular and Tissue Engineering presents both the fundamentals and state of the art in imaging methods, approaches, and applications in regenerative medicine. The book underscores the broadening scope of imaging applications in cellular and tissue engineering. It covers a wide range of optical and biological applications, including the repair or replacement of whole tissues (such as bone, cartilage, blood vessels, and bladder) and more novel artificially created suppor...

Providing detailed knowledge about fullerene nanowhiskers and the related low-dimensional fullerene nanomaterials, this book introduces tubular nanofibers made of fullerenes, "fullerene nanotubes," as well as the single crystalline thin film made of C60, called "fullerene nanosheet." It is the first publication featuring the fullerene nanowhiskers made of C60, C70, and C60 derivatives and so forth. It demonstrates the synthetic method (liquid–liquid interfacial precipitation method) and the physical and chemical properties such as electrical, mechanical, optical, magnetic, thermodynamic, and surface properties for the fullerene nanowhiskers, including their electronic device application.

  • Publisher: CRC Press

This book covers the broad field of cellular, molecular, preclinical, and clinical imaging either associated with or combined with photodynamic therapy (PDT). It showcases how this approach is used clinically for cancer, infections, and diseases characterized by unwanted tissue such as atherosclerosis or blindness. Because the photosensitizers are also fluorescent, the book also addresses various imaging systems such as confocal microscopy and small animal imaging systems, and highlights how they have been used to follow and optimize treatment, and to answer important mechanistic questions. Chapters also discuss how imaging has made important contributions to clinical outcomes in skin, bladder, and brain cancers, as well as in the development of theranostic agents for detection and treatment of disease. This book provides a resource for physicians and research scientists in cell biology, microscopy, optics, molecular imaging, oncology, and drug discovery.

The year 2020 was challenging for Malaysians and people around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Malaysia has been particularly affected, with over two million cases and more than 31,000 deaths. Despite the difficulties, some individuals have gained wisdom from the experience. To help convey the events of COVID-19 in a clear and accessible way, a graphic novel called ‘The Outrage of COVID-19’ has been created. The novel contains real stories from individuals’ experiences during the pandemic, such as their struggles with quarantine and working from home. The novel is illustrated with graphics to make it easy to understand, and is intended to inspire and enlighten readers about the reality of COVID-19. The novel also includes various messages and lessons that readers can learn from. ‘The Outrage of COVID-19’ is a special manuscript that was completed during the pandemic, and represents the first collaboration between UiTM Kedah Branch lecturers and Diploma in Graphic Design students.
