Mechatronics and automation technology has led to technological change and innovation in all engineering fields, affecting various disciplines, including machine technology, electronics, and computing. It plays a vital role in improving production efficiency, reducing energy consumption and improving product quality and safety, and will be central to the further advancement of technology and industry, bringing convenience and innovation to even more areas. This book presents the proceedings of ICMAT 2023, the 2nd International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation Technology, held as a virtual event on 27 October 2023. The aim of the conference was to provide a platform for scientists, s...

This book, which presents results in nonlinear dynamical systems from the physical and engineering sciences, has a fractal-like construction: Each of the 17 chapters reviews the present status of research activities from the field under consideration, first by providing the reader with an elementary introduction to the topic, then presenting the latest concepts, and finally introducing theoretical, computational or experimental results. The general construction of the book is also presented in a similar manner - starting with the outline of new theoretical achievements and finishing with various problems relevant to the fields of electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering and biomechanical engineering. The new aspects and results found in the special systems taken from electrical, mechanical and biomechanical engineering enrich and increase the general level of understanding the dynamical behaviour of physical systems and show many of their universal properties.
Technical papers from the November 2000 ASME Heat Transfer Division congress and exposition comprise 31 sessions, including transport phenomena in fuel cell systems, radiation heat transfer in energy systems, heat transfer in microgravity systems, cryogenic heat transfer, innovative heat transfer vi
This landmark book provides a comprehensive anthropological introduction to contemporary Central Asia. Established and emerging scholars of the region critically interrogate the idea of a ‘Central Asian World’ at the intersection of post-Soviet, Persianate, East and South Asian worlds. Encompassing chapters on life between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Xinjiang, this volume situates the social, political, economic, ecological and ritual diversity of Central Asia in historical context. The book ethnographically explores key areas such as the growth of Islamic finance, the remaking of urban and sacred spaces, as well as decolonizing and queering approaches to Central Asia. T...
Between the founding of Soviet Uzbekistan in 1924 and the Stalinist Terror of the late 1930s, a nationalist cinema emerged in Uzbekistan giving rise to the first wave of national film production and an Uzbek cinematographic elite. In Cinema, Nation, and Empire in Uzbekistan Cloé Drieu uses Uzbek films as a lens to explore the creation of the Soviet State in Central Asia, starting from the collapse of the Russian Empire up through the eve of WWII. Drieu argues that cinema provides a perfect angle for viewing the complex history of domination, nationalism, and empire (here used to denote the centralization of power) within the Soviet sphere. By exploring all of film's dimensions as a socio-po...
