Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) Dating in the Amazonian Wetlands
Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating has proven to be extremely useful for establishing the Late Quaternary chronological framework in many areas of the Brazilian territory. In this region dominated by tropical climate, OSL dating can be more extensively applied than radiocarbon dating due to the generally low potential for the preservation of organic matter in sedimentary samples. This problem is especially critical in areas of the Amazonian lowlands, because of the hot climate and high precipitation rates. Annihilating Fields of Standard Modules of $\mathfrak {sl}(2, \mathbb {C})^\sim $ and Combinatorial Identities
In this volume, the authors show that a set of local admissible fields generates a vertex algebra. For an affine Lie algebra $\tilde{\frak g}$, they construct the corresponding level $k$ vertex operator algebra and show that level $k$ highest weight $\tilde{\frak g}$-modules are modules for this vertex operator algebra. They determine the set of annihilating fields of level $k$ standard modules and study the corresponding loop $\tilde{\frak g}$-module--the set of relations that defines standard modules. In the case when $\tilde{\frak g}$ is of type $A{(1)} 1$, they construct bases of standard modules parameterized by colored partitions, and as a consequence, obtain a series of Rogers-Ramanujan type combinatorial identities.
Systematics of the parasitic wasp genus Oxyscelio Kieffer (Hymenoptera, Platygastridae s.l.), Part I: Indo-Malayan and Palearctic fauna
This issue contains the first of a planned set of three publications greatly expanding knowledge of the platygastroid genus Oxyscelio Kieffer. We recognize 90 species in the Indo-Malayan and Palearctic realms, 71 of which are described here as new species. We divided these species into 13 species groups in order to highlight unique or unusual morphological features shared by certain species. A total of 438 specimen photographs are provided to aid in specimen identification. Newly discovered species are described from Brunei, China, Christmas Island, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, The Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Systematics of Old World Odontacolus Kieffer s.l. (Hymenoptera, Platygastridae s.l.): parasitoids of spider eggs
The wasp family Platygastridae is a large group of tiny, exclusively parasitoid wasps distributed worldwide. The genera Odontacolus and Cyphacolus, belonging to this family, are among the most distinctive wasps because of the peculiar hump-like formation on the rear part of their bodies (shape linked to the ovipositor system. Despite their intriguing body shape, the generic status of these two groups has remained unclear. We currently described a 32 new Odontacolus species, providing extensive morphological phylogenetic analysis of Odontacolus and Cyphacolus, these previously understudied genera. Previously considered to be relatively rare based on material available in collections, recent intensive collecting using Malaise and yellow-pan traps has revealed that some species of Odontacolus are moderately common, leading to the description of 32 species from across Africa, Australia and Asia.
